Licensing Section Procedure for obtaining an import/export licence
The Licensing Section of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce is governed by the Trade Act (CAP 91:01) and Official Gazette No. 4 of 1996 (attached). The latter document outlines the list of items that are subjected to licensing requirements.
The procedure for obtaining an import/export licence is as follows:
1. Applicant must complete Application for Import/Export Licence form in triplicate
2. The applicant must then take forms to the relevant trade regulatory Agency/Agencies to
have them endorsed (see tables below). In some instances, a letter of endorsement,
approval or no objection is issued
3. The endorsed licence along with approval document stated at 2 must then be submitted to
the Ministry of Tourism, industry and Commerce – Commerce Department- Licensing
Section for final approval before proceeding to the GRA
The list of items that require endorsement for exportation:
NOTE: GUYSUCO is the only authorized exporter of Cane Sugar.
